Is seven days enough?
Seven days can cover Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu if you keep the route focused. It is not enough for every major region of Peru. The decision is whether you prefer a compact first visit or fewer stops with more breathing room.
A practical route order
A common sequence is Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and a final return to Cusco or Lima. Confirm the international flight plan before booking the train. The key is to protect the Machu Picchu day from unnecessary connections and leave a buffer before your flight home.
Where the days go
Use Lima for arrival and a short city visit, then move to Cusco for acclimatization and the historic center. Place the Sacred Valley between Cusco and Machu Picchu when the train route allows it. After the sanctuary visit, return to Cusco or continue with the next connection according to your departure time.
What needs coordination
The difficult part is not choosing attractions. It is connecting airport transfers, altitude, hotel nights, train times, Machu Picchu entrance availability and luggage. The best sequence depends on your flight arrival, the circuit available and whether you want a shared or private service.
When to add more days
Add time if you want Rainbow Mountain, Humantay Lake, the Amazon, Lake Titicaca or Arequipa. Those additions can be excellent, but stacking them into seven days may turn the trip into a chain of early departures. Message Deicy with your flight dates before deciding what to remove.
